Robinwood Drive Widening/ Reconstruction - 2013

Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) provided civil design services to complete construction bid plans, specifications and cost estimates for 6,300 feet of widening of a two-lane roadway to a four-lane closed section roadway. The work includes:
In addition, SWA provided a wide range of hydraulics and hydrology including storm drain design, erosion and sediment control design, various BMP stormwater management design services including grass channel design, bioretention design, underground facility design. SWA also provided delineation of drainage maps, investigation of several points of drainage interests, pre- and post peak discharges, soil maps, surface SWM ponds, evaluation and inspection of existing SWM ponds using TR-55 software, and utilizing new SWM design approach such as Filterra Design system, preparation of storm management plans and report.
Bus Stops and ADA Evaluations - 2012

Sabra & Associates, Inc. provided evaluations of approximately 25 existing bus stop facilities over the last two years to see if they comply with ADA guidelines. In addition, SWA has evaluated ramps, driveways and sidewalks. As a result of the evaluations, upgrades were designed.
Resurfacing & ADA Improvements - 2012

MD 197 / US 301 Intersection Resurfacing
and ADA Improvements - 2012

Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) prepared the Special Provisions and the supporting documents for resurfacing MD 197 from US 301 to Evergreen Parkway, approximately 0.72 miles.
The project included field measuring existing slopes and width of all pedestrian ramps, sidewalks and driveways, and consequently upgrading pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, driveways, intersection islands to meet the latest ADA design guidelines, MD SHA design criteria, “SHA Accessibility Policy and Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities along State Highways dated December 2005” and “Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG).
SWA investigated all existing fire hydrants and utility poles within sidewalks that conflicted with the above design guidelines and proposed design alternatives such as providing
bump-outs to avoid relocating fire hydrants and utility poles. The recommendations were summarized by preparing ADA waiver applications that were submitted to MD SHA for review and approval.
SWA designed the upgrades for all existing W-beam traffic barriers and end treatments to meet the latest MD SHA design requirements. Prepared construction bid documents for roadway milling and resurfacing. Investigated existing storm drain pipes and upgraded pipes, inlets and manholes. Prepared erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, and maintenance of traffic plans and details. Such cases are illustrated in these pictures where ADA waivers were required.

Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) provided highway, drainage and traffic engineering design services for three parking lots located in the City of Hyattsville. The parking lots had been in service for many years and needed to be repaired and upgraded to current standards. Ritchie Avenue Traffic Calming
and Intersection Improvements - 2011
City of Takoma Park, MD
Sabra & Associates, Inc. performed planning analysis of traffic calming improvements along Ritchie Avenue between Piney Branch and Maple Avenue. Evaluated existing traffic and geometric characteristics and developed alternative concepts including bicycle lanes, chicanes, chokers, mini-roundabouts, and retrofit sidewalks along Ritchie Avenue from Piney Branch to Maple. Prepared renderings and facilitated public outreach.

Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) provided civil engineering design for the resurfacing and rehabilitation of City streets. Scope of work included design of new sidewalks, ADA ramps, storm drains, streetscape , maintenance of traffic, traffic signal,, signing and pavement marking and CADD design support.
SWA completed the inspections, inventories, assessments, designs and engineering quantities and estimates for the following 18 roadway segments identified by the City’s Traffic Division for the 5 JOC Resurfacing Contracts.

US 50 at Walston Switch Road - 2013
Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) has provided design services for intersection improvements at the US 50 and Walston Switch Road intersection. Responsibilities included preparing roadway plans, construction estimate and specifications for resurfacing US 50, roadway widening to provide deceleration and acceleration lanes off and onto US 50, constructing two new off- and on-ramps within the existing wide median along US 50 in Wicomico County.
Hawkins Point Road Widening Project - 2013
Baltimore City, MD
Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) was responsible for designing and developing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for relocating and converting BG&E’s overhead electrical system to an underground conduit system (to be owned by the City), new streetlighting, new drainage structures, MOT and pavement marking.
This project is located in the southeast corner of Baltimore City, east of Curtis Creek and just south of I-695. The project encompasses approximately one mile of Hawkins Point Road between Chemical Road and Quarantine Road and involves the realignment / reconstruction / widening of Hawkins Point Road over CSXT RR tracks, including the replacement of the existing deteriorated bridge (built in 1932).
The design phase is approximately 90% complete and is currently on hold pending the City’s acquisition of the remaining ROW easements.
