On-Call Traffic Engineering
Carroll County, Maryland - 2015
Sabra & Associates, Inc. (SAI) under two, successive, repeat on-call contracts with the County performed a multitude of traffic engineering, traffic study and geometric improvement projects:
MD 30 at Maple Grove intersection Traffic Engineering Design for Intersection improvements at Northeast High School. SWA prepared final traffic engineering design plans for one new traffic signal, corridor signing and pavement markings, intersection lighting, and maintenance of traffic for this capital improvement project. This project was fast-tracked for design and construction. SWA worked closely with the County, SHA Access Permits and District 7, BG&E and the roadway design consultant.
Traffic Signal Design Review & Construction Inspection at Ridge Road at Kali Drive. SWA is supporting the design and construction of the first County owned and maintained traffic signal. SWA prepared the traffic signal design standards, and specifications, performed shop drawing and source of supply review, and will be performing construction inspection services.
County-wide Traffic Signal Maintenance IFB. SWA prepared the County’s on-call contract for traffic signal maintenance, emergency maintenance, and modification for county owned traffic signals.
MD 97 NB/SB between Airport Drive and Old Meadow Branch Traffic Engineering Design and Roadway Design for widening MD 97. SWA prepared preliminary and semi-final plans including traffic signal design, corridor signing and pavement markings, intersection lighting, full roadway design in support of geometric improvements, drainage, E&S, and maintenance of traffic.
Traffic Operations Studies and Conceptual roundabout designs for Englar Road at Monroe Street. The work included data collection, signal warrant analyses, roundabout analysis, capacity analysis, and simulation.
High-profile Traffic Impact Studies commissioned by the County, including Leister Park, St. Joseph Church, Giant Fuel Station, and Leister Property, the former being a high priority economic development office and warehouse project for the County. Studies included data collection, speed studies, sight distance, crash analysis, development of traffic forecasts, traffic modeling and simulation, capacity and level of service analysis, queuing analysis, and concept development. Coordinated with SHA Access Permits, District and Travel Forecasting to revise land use and background development assumptions. Developed a detailed concept plan to modify the proposed roundabout at the southern end of the Hampstead Bypass to accommodate the new development’s access point.
